Fashion, Health, Wellness, Cooking, and Romance Novels among features at WOMEN’S EXPO 2005, along with special events for Breast Cancer Awareness

Kingsport, Tennessee:  In its eighth year, Kingsport’s well known Women’s Expo will transform MeadowView Convention Center into a “funfest” for women of all ages on October 22-23, with extended hours on Saturday from 10-8 and Sunday 1-6.  One hundred twenty booths will offer products, demonstrations, and information on practically anything that interests women. Activities and presentations are scheduled throughout the weekend.

Women’s Expo will feature a Beauty Booth, Cosmetics, Fragrances, Handbags, Jewelry, Home Accessories, Skin Care Experts, Cooking Demos, Fashion Shows, Health Screenings, Fitness Demos, Belly Dancing, Flute Ensemble, a Silent Auction from Keep Kingsport Beautiful, and much more.  Aspiring writers will enjoy something new this year – well known romance authors will be present during the expo, and tickets are available for a Friday night dinner with them.

Saturday evening holds  a “bachelors auction” fundraiser to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Ladies are encouraged to come out and silently bid on their favorite cute guy in a tuxedo and contribute to Breast Cancer Research.  There will be a featured “pink ribbon hall of fame”, where people can place a note or picture honoring a friend or family member who has battled breast cancer.

Women’s Expo 2005 will offer plenty of prizes, samples, and giveaways from exhibitors, including drawings for a seven night Caribbean Cruise, a sewing machine, pool table,  gift certificates and much more.

Exhibitors will present an array of new looks in home décor, fashion, special occasion attire, hairstyles and make-up.  Custom color and make-overs will be available.  Health and wellness booths will offer screenings and consultations.  The silent auction on Saturday will offer theatre tickets, golf packages, Nascar tickets, and fine dining.  Educational opportunities will be presented from ETSU, King College, and Tusculum, as well as Virginia Intermont chefs’ culinary arts demonstrations.

“Women’s Expo is a real smorgasbord of activities and things to see and do – it’s a  chance to play, shop, and learn all in one spot.  It’s like a weekend escape,” said event coordinator, Diana Meredith.

Expo hours are Saturday 10 am – 8 pm and Sunday 1 – 6 pm.  Tickets at the door are $4 each, $3 in advance.  Children 12 and younger free.  Free childcare is available in a separate lounge for ages 2-10, as space permits. A men’s lounge with Big Screen TV and Nursing Mothers’ room are also provided.  For more information on Women’s Expo 2005, please call 423 245-2878 or 877 789 6397.

Location, Location, Location

Location, Location, Location
www.MoveToKingsport.com is located on the Tennessee-Virginia border at the crossroads of I-81 and I-26 near the geographic center of the Eastern U.S. This city of 50,000 in a metro of 308,000, was planned by renowned American planner John Nolen in his office at Harvard Square. Located in the lush green foothills of the Tennessee Valley, it is surrounded by the Southern Highlands and mountain lakes. Kingsport is home to Marriott’s www.MeadowViewResort.com and thousands of acres of unique, natural amenities at Bays Mountain and Warriors Path Parks. The natural geography provides a temperate, well-balanced climate with four seasons and a natural shelter from extreme weather. Population growth has also been well-balanced, ensuring you will not outgrow your decision to relocate. With no personal property taxes, special assessments, or state income taxes on salaries/wages, you’ll find that Kingsport has a very low cost of living coupled with an exceptionally high quality of life (see for yourself at www.BestPlaces.net). The regional airport (TRI) has direct flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Orlando and St. Pete/Clearwater with easy access, parking, and virtually no security lines. The public education system was planned by Columbia University and Newsweek has repeatedly recognized the local high school as one of the best in America. Year in and year out our graduates go on to the top colleges and universities (and without costly private school tuition fees). Harvard also recognized Kingsport in 2009 with the Innovations in American Government Award for its higher education initiative. What are you waiting for? It’s time to leave the high costs, traffic jams, and stress behind and discover this hidden gem.
