Johnson City Medical Center named a "Top 100 Heart Hospital"

JOHNSON CITY - For the fifth consecutive year, a national independent healthcare firm has recognized the Johnson City Medical Center (JCMC) as one of the top 100 heart hospitals in the country.

According to the 2005 Circulatory 200 Report from the Data Advantage Corporation released Wednesday, JCMC is ranked 97th in the nation in volumes for cardiac procedures.

JCMC was also named by Data Advantage in its 2005 “Top 100 Low Cost Hospitals” ranking.  For 18 different cardiac procedures, JCMC was ranked among the lowest cost hospitals in the nation.

The Center for Cardiovascular Health has been nationally recognized by other independent companies.  In 2004, JCMC was recognized as the only hospital in Tennessee to be included in the Solucient Top 100 Heart Hospital listing for Teaching Hospitals with a Cardiovascular Residency Program.

Dennis Vonderfecht, Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA) President and CEO said, “The MSHA Team is very proud of this recognition of Johnson City Medical Center as one of the Top 100 Hospitals in the country with respect to cardiovascular services. We have worked closely with our medical staff in Washington County over the past several years to develop a quality heart program and this recognition demonstrates that we have met this goal.”

MSHA facilities include: the Johnson City Medical Center, North Side Hospital, Johnson City Specialty Hospital, James H. & Cecile C. Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital, the Children’s Hospital at JCMC, Woodridge Hospital, a service of JCMC, all in Washington County, TN; Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Carter County, TN; Johnson County Health Center, located in Mountain City, TN.; Indian Path Medical Center and Indian Path Pavilion in Sullivan County; TN;  Blue Ridge Medical Management Corporation – operating the First Assist Urgent Care centers, ValuCare Clinics and numerous primary care offices.
