Hi Jeff,
Morgan King here. There's a line from the movie "Tombstone" where after
a gun battle someone asked Doc Holiday why he took part in the fight.
His reply..."Wyatt Earp is my friend." The man came back with "Hey,
I've got lots of friends." Doc said "I don't!" With my job in the
media as well as with you and your high profile job, we can relate.
I know lots of folks and many more know me...but, Dave Murray was one of
my closest, oldest and dearest friends. He gave me my first job in
broadcasting at a Christian radio station that he and his wife Martha
built and operated in the basement of their home on Colonial Heights Rd.
We've remained good friends for over 20 years.
At his funeral service on Easter Sunday, those in attendance were asked
to come forward and tell their "Dave" stories. Due to time restraints,
there were more people who wanted to speak than time would allow.
My wife Linda had an idea. Would you be willing to use your daily email
to the community, to encourage those who were at the service and didn't
get the chance to speak as well as those who weren't there but would
also like to have a chance ... to tell Dave's family, their fond
memories?
If so, please encourage them to send their thoughts to Dave's email box
at dmurray@wrzk.com.
It is something that his family can cherish and it's a way for us to
give back, perhaps in a small way, to a man who devoted his life to
giving and helping others.
Thanks,
Morgan & Linda King
