“This competition will bring in the most talented 12 year old girl basketball players in the country,” said Frank Lett, Director of Sports Marketing. “We are excited about the amount of visitors this event will bring to the area, as well as the economic impact it will have on the region.”

The competition will work as follows: Teams will begin with pool play. The top two teams in each pool will advance to the double-elimination bracket of the Championship. All who do not qualify for the Championship bracket will go directly into a modified double-elimination bracket. The games will be played in 16 minute halves with a 10 minute half-time intermission. Forty-one of the 12 & under girls this year are over 6 feet and three of them are 6 foot 3 inches.
This event is the third and the largest of a record six sports events the KCVB is hosting in 2006. The AAU Girls’ Basketball 12 & Under National Championship is projected to have an economic impact of more than 4 million dollars on

Tickets can be purchased for $8 a day or $35 for the entire week. Children’s tickets are $5 for a day or $15 for the week. Children under five are admitted free and parking is complimentary. Tickets can be picked up at the door or by calling the KCVB at 423-392-8820.
