Kingsport Inspector Named Tennessee Code Official of the Year

Kingsport Building Inspector Named Tennessee Code Official Of The Year KINGSPORT -- Keith Bruner, a 10 year city employee in the City of Kingsport Building Division, has been name Tennessee Code Official of the Year, the first time a building official in the region has been recognized with this honor. Mr. Bruner worked for the cities of Church Hill and Surgoinsville prior to joining the City, and has served as a volunteer firefighter in Hawkins County in years past. Keith also holds multiple certifications in building, fire, building plans, zoning, and plumbing, electrical and mechanical areas. He was first certified as a building inspector in 1994 and as a fire inspector in 1995. Keith has been actively involved with the Upper East Tennessee Building Officials Association, serving as president in 2007, and was awarded Code Official of the Year of the local Chapter. This State of Tennessee award places Keith into consideration as national Code Official of the year. "Keith is a true asset for the City of Kingsport, and exhibits all the best traits that we look for in public servants," City Manager John Campbell said. Kingsport Public Works Manager Named Official of the Year

Census reports Sullivan County gains in population

Sullivan County Posts Population Gain for 3rd Consecutive Year The Census Bureau recently released its County population estimates for 2007. Sullivan County's official population is 153,519, nearly 1,000 higher than the previous year.
