Kingsport Ballet Presents "Tom Sawyer - A Contemporary Dance"
Kingsport Ballet presents Tom Sawyer – A contemporary dance. Kingsport Ballet has created a new contemporary dance, inspired by the story of Tom Sawyer. The music is upbeat and playful, and the characters fully embrace the saucy nature of Tom and his friends. The piece illustrates a scene where the show-off boys encounter a group of proper girls and proceed to make themselves known to them. Tom Sawyer is set in the antebellum era in Mississippi, and the dance aims to embody this period of time while exploring contemporary ballet: old fashioned charm meets present day movement. The choreography is created by Erika Ballard. You will experience the Kingsport Ballet in various locations throughout the month.
