WELLMONT CVA HEART INSTITUTE OPENS OFFICE
IN MARION, VA., EXPANDING HEART CARE IN REGION

 

     MARION, Va.– Providing an additional facility close to home for its heart care patients, the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute has opened an office in Smyth County.

     Staffed primarily by Dr. Jonathan Burress and Dr. David Beckner, the office at 1116 Snyder St. in Marion offers cardiology consults and follow-up visits for patients.

     "We're pleased to offer the compassionate care of the region's premier heart care provider to Smyth County," said Dr. Burress, who is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. "We've been honored to treat our patients in Abingdon for more than 30 years. This is an extension of the elite level of cardiac care we provide to our valued patients throughout Southwest Virginia."

     Patients of the Smyth County office also can tap into the expertise and services offered in the institute's other eight offices, including those in Abingdon and Bristol, Tenn., when necessary. This seamless continuum of care also applies to the institute's hospitals.

     Physicians in the institute provide cardiovascular care at Bristol Regional Medical Center and Holston Valley Medical Center, both of which were ranked by Consumer Reports among 50 top-rated heart bypass surgery programs nationwide.

     Bristol Regional is a regional leader in beating-heart bypass surgery, which enables a physician to stabilize the part of the heart needing work while the rest continues to pump and circulate blood to the rest of the body. Kingsport's premier pulmonary practice joins Wellmont Health System

KINGSPORT'S PREMIER PULMONARY PRACTICE JOINS WELLMONT HEALTH SYSTEM

 

     KINGSPORT– Pulmonary Associates of Kingsport is bringing the expertise of its 10 board-certified physicians to Wellmont Health System, forming a partnership that will enhance care for patients in Kingsport and Southwest Virginia.

     The new relationship was finalized today. Under the partnership agreement, Pulmonary Associates' physicians will provide clinical and administrative leadership as part of the health system.

     "When hospitals and physicians come together and seamlessly integrate their services, patients are the winners," said Denny DeNarvaez, Wellmont's president and CEO. "Our new partnership with Pulmonary Associates is the result of a long-term relationship built on mutual trust, clinical excellence and an unwavering focus on superior patient care."

     Pulmonary Associates of Kingsport, which also has four pulmonary nurse practitioners, offers comprehensive services for pulmonary disorders. Its member physicians treat patients of all ages for pulmonary disease, critical care needs, asthma, thoracic oncology and sleep disorders. The practice has locations in Kingsport, Big Stone Gap, Va., and Lebanon, Va.

     As was the case when Wellmont partnered with Cardiovascular Associates to form the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute last year, the new partnership will be virtually transparent to Pulmonary Associates' patients. It will yield significant benefits, however, as the relationship better positions both Pulmonary Associates and Wellmont to respond to the demands of healthcare reform.

     "Both Pulmonary Associates and Wellmont will benefit from our shared strength," said Dr. Joseph Smiddy, managing partner of the practice. "Most importantly, our patients will continue to receive the high-quality care they not only expect but also deserve."
