Fun Fest 2016 Concerts announced

Fun Fest Announces Sunset Series Entertainers:
The Fray to Close Fun Fest

Kingsport, TN- Fun Fest 2016 (July 15th-23rd) is proud to announce the entertainers for the 2016 Sunset Concert Series. Newsboys will kick off the series on Thursday, July 21st followed by Charlie Daniels Band on Friday, July 22nd. The festival finale will be The Fray on Saturday, July 23rd.

Thursday night’s Contemporary Christian Concert will open up with Crowder. As the David Crowder Band has now put a period at the end of its sentence, a new chapter is emerging for front-man, David Crowder. As the next paragraph begins, David Crowder will take the stage performing with his new collective, simply called, Crowder. Fans can expect more of what they've always loved about Crowder through the years - the songs, the worship, musical innovation - and now they get to be a part of the new beginning. Crowder’s debut album, Neon Steeple, was released in May 2014 with the Neon Steeple tour launching alongside it.

The headliner for this year’s Contemporary Christian Concert is Newsboys. If you were to draw up a blueprint for a successful music career, the final plans couldn’t help but resemble Newsboys’ trajectory. They’ve defined Christian music for more than two decades, only to blow up expectations as they’ve recreated themselves again and again. Impossible to pin down, these musical shapeshifters move fluidly between rock and pop, worship and dance, to the delight of their legion of fans. Their live shows exhibit a kind of energy that, if it could be bottled, would power entire cities. Along the way, they’ve sold more than 8 million units and amassed eight Gold® certifications, 33 #1 radio hits, four GRAMMY® nominations, two American Music Award nominations and taken home multiple Dove Awards. In addition, their chart-topping, Platinum®-certified single, “God’s Not Dead,” inspired Pure Flix’s 2014 hit film of the same name.
The Thursday night concert is presented by Honda Kingsport, Tele-Optics, Inc., Carter-Trent Funeral Homes and 88.3 WCQR.

The Friday Night Concert kicks off with, 2015 America’s Got Talent semifinalists, Mountain Faith. Mountain Faith has played their unique brand of music to audiences at colleges, civic centers, auditoriums, arenas, fair grounds, festivals, parks, and churches across the United States and Canada. Their fresh Appalachian take on gospel, bluegrass, folk, R&B, and pop music has earned them televised appearances on Daystar and the 2015 season of America’s Got Talent

Headlining the Friday Night Concert is 2016 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, The Charlie Daniels Band. Daniels is best known for his number one country hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia", and multiple other songs he has written and performed. Daniels has been active as a singer and musician since the 1950s. He was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on January 24, 2008 and the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.

The Friday night concert is presented by Appalachian Power, Domtar, Wendy’s and WXBQ.

Fun Fest 2016 will end the week with opener American Authors and headliner, The Fray. American Authors' career-defining RIAA triple-platinum #1 hit "Best Day Of My Life" continues to resonate across the Top 40 nearly three years after its release. Most recently, they reached TOP 50 for HOT AC (Adult Contemporary) chart.
